Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need a CPST when the car seat comes with a manual?
Ideally, everyone could read the car seat manual front to back and understand everything that is in it. The reading part may not be difficult, but the understanding can be a real challenge. Most people think they're doing things right, but there is always something (usually many things!) to be learned by having a CPST come and check your seat.
Will you install my car seat for me?
As a CPSAC certified CPST-I, I like to help caregivers learn how to install the car seat themselves. Hands-on learning is the best way to learn how to install. This is helpful in case you have to move the car seat for whatever reason.
However if you're unable to do this, or would prefer not to, then yes, I will install the seat for you and teach you as much as we can about how to do it on your own visually.
Can I pay less if you just quickly check my car seat install?
No. There are a few reasons for this:
1. In order to check to make sure a car seat is safe, I need to have it uninstalled. Frayed, twisted or worn straps could be hiding under the seat. Sometimes straps are caught on something under or behind the seat.
2. Even if you installed the car seat well, the installation techniques you'll learn from doing it again yourself (wiith guidance) will save time and energy next time.
3. For every seat check, I take down information found on a sticker that's often only viewable when the seat is uninstalled.
We do encourage you to install the seat first so we can discuss where you struggled and any problems you encountered with the install.
I live outside the service area. What can I do?
Depending on my availability, I may still be able to meet with you. Please contact me and we can discuss specifics.
If I can't meet with you because you're too far, you can meet me somewhere within the area on the map.
Lastly, if we can't get together, I can refer you to another trusted CPST who works closer to where you live.
What if I need help after the appointment is over?
Just give us a call! Or send a text or email with pictures (if applicable). Ongoing support is part of the package. I'm here if you have any questions or concerns going forward.
If another installation appointment is needed, charges will likely apply. But usually problems after the initial appointment can be solved without a CPST being physically present.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash or email money transfer.
If I buy a gift card, does the recipient have to live within the service area?
Yes. Please ensure the recipient lives within the service area or is willing to travel to this area for the appointment.
What are you doing to protect against the spread of COVID-19
From March 12-June 1, 2020, BuckleRite remained closed for in-person installations. During this time, we started doing virtual installation appointments with great success! We will continue to offer this virtual service going forward!
As we begin to re-open our mobile in-person services, we have taken several steps to insure the safety of your family and ourselves. Unfortunately, at this time we will not be offering shopping/try-in appointments, group classes, or technician training courses. We look forward to having the return of these services once it is safe to do so.
During an in-person appiontment, we will:
-not travel out of province within a month of any appointment
-never come to you if we have any symptoms of COVID-19 (or any illness whatsoever), or if we have had contact with anyone who has sypmtoms and/or who has been diagnosed with COVID-19
-ask that you let us know if you or anyone in your household have symptoms of COVID-19, or if you or anyone in your household have been exposed to anyone who has symptoms and/or who has been diagnosed with COVID-19, or if you or anyone you've had contact with has a recent travel history
-wear a mask throughout the appointment
-wear our hair up in a bun
-use hand sanitizer upon leaving our vehicle, and when finished an appointment
-stay at least 2 metres from you at all times (and ask that you do the same for us)
-ask that you please bring your own pen to sign your check form
-shorten the amount of time we are on-site, and do more education via video call, email, or text if remaining distanced is difficult (i.e. if children are present)
-encourage more e-transfers of funds vs cash transactions
These unprecidented times have forced us all to find ways to continue living life while avoiding COVID-19 transmission. If you have any other suggestions for how we can stop the spread, please let us know and we'd be happy to accomodate you!
